Interview
Chloe Chong was happy to be back among the top performers in Paul Ricard testing as she went third fastest in the final session on Tuesday’s running.
After a great start to the season in Round 1 at Spielberg, the Brit has continued to battle in the midfield at all the races, but was happy with today’s performance as she finished near the top of the standings:
“I think testing was pretty good. We are trying different things with the car so it’s not going to be completely pure performance for us, but it’s definitely nice to feel like we are back where we should be after a couple of tough months. P6 and P3 are nice results to have, but we don’t just look at the result, there’s always some time to improve.”
As the youngest driver on the grid, and the only one to have come straight from karting, Chong’s first appearance at Paul Ricard was in pre-season testing when she was still getting to grips with her new car. The PREMA Racing driver was able to look back on her progression since those early weeks:
“It’s been a long journey. At the start I was a bit nervous still and wasn’t sure how to warm up the tyres so it’s nice to be back here with that bit more confidence and readiness to push the car. It’s definitely nice to be back and feel like there’s been progress made.
“Sometimes you don’t really appreciate the progress you have made and you need to look back at where you were a year ago to realise and appreciate every place that you have come just because racing in this series is so competitive and sometimes you get lost in the results rather than progress."
