MP Motorsport's Amna Al Qubaisi is looking forward to starting on pole in this afternoon’s Race 2 as she took a well-deserved P5 in the first race of the weekend.

The Emirati driver was forced onto the gravel early on after a collision involving her teammate Emily de Heus, but managed to navigate her way up the field and into the Top 5 after the disqualification of Campos Racing’s Nerea Marti.

Al Qubaisi said: “Race 1 was ok! There was an incident I couldn’t avoid so I had to go on the gravel, which took me all the way to the end. On the Safety Car restart, a car in front of me pulled a massive gap so it was hard for me to catch up, but overall we finished in P5 so I am happy with that and we have the pace to compete.”

Having qualified in P8 after Qualifying 1, Al Qubaisi starts on pole in the reverse grid format for Race 2, a shorter 20 minute battle with ten points on offer for the winner.

After her performance in Race 1, Al Qubaisi is excited to get back out on track: “I am going in very confident , the pace was there, we have purple sectors as well in the first race so I am feeling really confident.”
